Comfort and the Cane Lounge Set

Cane lounge furniture is both easy to care for and generally not too expensive to buy. It looks great, is lightweight and is also surprisingly long lasting. Many people are sold on cane furniture as it fits in well with most decor and is very easy to coordinate with other pieces.

Typically, a cane lounge furniture set consists of several pieces of furniture. Usually there are two single cane chairs, which would be the equivalent of armchairs.  You also have a two or three seater cane couch and a cane coffee table. Often you will also have cane side tables that sit alongside the couch or beside the cane chairs.

Furniture made from cane is not always that comfortable to sit on. Although the seat section, which is often made from cane that is woven together in a mat style, is generally quite comfortable, oftentimes the back can be fairly uncomfortable.  It all depends on the way the cane furniture is made, of course. Chairs are usually much more comfortable than couches, as the couches often have an open cane back, where slats or pieces of cane go from the seat section up to the top section. Occasionally you will find cane couches where the back is also made from woven cane pieces, which is much more comfortable.

Usually people dress up their cane furniture by adding a long piece of covered foam on the seat, and throw cushions along the back of the sofa. Throw cushions also often accompany the chairs as well.  Adding this to the furniture not only helps it to be much more comfortable to sit on, but it also gives the home decorator the opportunity to add color and it helps the sofa set blend in with the overall room decor.

Care does need to be taken with furniture made from cane, as it can become damaged if it gets wet or if it is in humid or damp situations. Cane has a lot of the same properties as wood. In other words, it will warp when it comes in contact with moisture, and any harsh weather conditions can harm it. Bright sunlight causes it to fade and become brittle, therefore care must be taken if you want your cane lounge furniture to last. If you have cats in your home you need to be wary also, as they love to scratch on cane furniture!

If you are able to pick up a cane set at a sofa sale you will probably find that you have quite a bargain. It is generally not that expensive, unless it is a modern designer set, thus buying it at a discounted price is even more of a bargain.

The great thing about cane living room furniture is that it matches with almost anything. It gives a room a very fresh, bright look and as long as you take care of it, you will find that it will last you for a long time. You are also able to change the cushions and thus change the entire look of your furniture which means that it can adapt to whatever your current living room style is.
