One reason for this comfort and attraction for these accommodating pieces of furniture is in fact the longevity of the sofa. A fine leather sofa will be around for quite a long time. The kind of leather found in a good quality sofa (or couch as some of us would call them) is strong and resists tears, punctures and cracking. Often times the frame of the sofa will begin to wear out before the leather does. Fine leather, although it looks great the day you pick it up, will actually begin to improve in both softness and appearance over the course of time.

Leather sofas add class and charm to any room in which they are placed. They tend to give off an air of sophistication mixed with rugged good looks. Although leather furniture has long been considered too expensive for the everyday furniture buyer, prices have fallen in recent years as compared to fabric covered sofas. So much so that the remaining price gap between leather and fabric sofas is virtually eliminated by the fact that leather furniture does last for so much longer than fabric covered furniture.

One glaring example of the fact is just to examine the results of a liquid spilled on the two different types of sofa coverings. With a fabric sofa the liquid will tend to soak right in to the fabric. The first job of course is to try and soak as much of the liquid out of the sofa as you can but you need to be careful not to rub to hard or too much as you could actually damage the fabric. After you have soaked up as much of the liquid as you can there will still be a wet area on the seat for a few hours while it dries. Then of course you must hope that a stain does not set in.

With a leather covered sofa the liquid will not soak in as readily. Most of the liquid will run off the surface and whatever is left can be easily absorbed by a cloth. Then one need only wipe the leather with a cloth dampened in leather cleaner and in a few minutes you have a clean dry seat.

With the disappearing price gap between leather sofas and fabric sofas it makes good sense to at least consider the option the next time you are in the market for a new sofa.

In recent years leather sofas have gained in popularity to a very great degree. Traditionally leather sofas were only an option for the very well off. Simply owning a leather sofa implied an elite status. There has been a significant drop in the price of leather sofas in recent years tough and today these once out of range furniture items are well within the budget of many furniture buyers.

As the prices of leather sofa have dropped manufacturers have taken proactive steps to increase sales. These proactive measures include designing more comfort features and many new styles to choose from. You can find style ranging from high back to low back and even a form of sofa with no back often referred to as the fainting sofa. Corner sofas have also become a very popular option due to their ability to seat large groups of people and also in part due to the flexibility in terms of how the pieces are arranged.

Owning a leather sofa is a one luxury that may actually be a wise and practical investment choice. This is due to the fact that leather sofas tend to last far longer than fabric covered sofas and also tend to improve with age. Leather sofas will resist rips and tears far better than a fabric covered sofa due to the superior strength of the leather. Leather will offer support and hold its shape far better than fabric.

One major benefit of a leather lounge is that if you spill a liquid on your leather sofa the liquid will tend to run off the surface of the leather. Simply grab a rag and wipe down the area and you will have a dry seat in minutes. By contrast the liquid will soak right in to fabric and you will have to do your very best to absorb the liquid out of the sofa. Even after trying to get as much liquid as you can out of the fabric you are still going to have a wet seat for a few hours and a very real possibility of a stain.

One other often overlooked benefit of a brown leather sofa is resale value. Most time when you buy a new sofa you would toss your old sofa or sell it for a few dollars. With a leather sofa though, provided you have taken reasonable care of it, you will be able to recoup a significant portion of the initial value.

Take all these things together and you are left with the obvious fact that leather sofas are a great choice for your next furniture purchase.

Plainly speaking a leather sofa is a good investment. When you spend your hard earned dollars on a leather sofa you are guaranteed a pleasurable return on your investment. Why is that you ask. Good question. We will get to the bottom of that question here today and you might be surprised at the answers.

Leather sofas may cost a few more dollars up front than a fabric covered sofa but they will last much longer than that fabric one. The reasons for this are pretty easy to understand. Leather is much stronger than most fabrics. It resists tears and punctures better than most fabrics and liquids to not absorb into leather as quickly as they would fabric.

If liquid were to spill on a fabric covered sofa the liquid would soak in almost immediately, you would then be forced to use dry cloths to try to absorb the liquid out of the sofa. You would have to rub and press and rub some more, all the while putting excessive wear on the fabric. Not only that but if it is a colored liquid you are very likely to end up with a stain. To top it all off after you have done your best at removing the spilled liquids you are left with a wet seat that needs hours to dry.

Compare that to the scenario of liquid spilled on a leather sofa. The liquid will pretty much run off the surface of the sofa, leaving you to wipe the sofa with a dry cloth to pick up any remaining liquid. Then using a cloth dampened with leather cleaner to clean any residual mess off the sofa. I would then wipe the sofa with a cloth dampened in leather protectant. After all that you will have a clean and protected sofa that is dry and ready to sit on in minutes.

Addressing the cost issue, if you are paying cash for your next sofa, then buying leather will most likely seem like a much more pricey option. If you are buying on credit though you can likely find a furniture outlet that charges no interest for up to five years. Five years is a long time to pay for a sofa and when broken down over five years the difference in payments between the fine leather sofa and a fabric one is very small indeed.

So now that the cost difference has been virtually eliminated the choice of leather over fabric seems like a no brainer. Leather furnishings will add style, sophistication and class to your home for years to come. There is no way to put a price on the joy of knowing that you have made a very wise investment decision.
